WHO IS RIAAN HUYSAMEN?
The visionary behind SkyPixels, began my journey as a graphic designer, meticulously crafting visual art pixel by pixel. With over 20 years of experience, I have evolved into a professional photographer and videographer, specializing in a diverse range of applications including construction sites, buildings, vessels at sea, majestic landscapes, and corporate videography.
SkyPixels was founded with a name that reflects my philosophy – ‘Sky’ representing limitless possibilities, and ‘Pixels’ symbolizing the detailed digital art viewed on screens and devices today. This combination showcases the commitment to pushing boundaries and creating stunning visual art accessible from any device.
My extensive portfolio includes ground camera work, aerial shots from planes and helicopters, and, most notably, drone photography. Since 2010, I’ve been captivated by RC Multi-Rotors, now known as Drones or RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems). These advanced devices enable me to capture the world from unique and breathtaking angles. As one of the pioneering drone photographers in South Africa, I have explored and perfected this technology, achieving a distinctive style known for its vibrant, lifelike, and awe-inspiring imagery.
In 2010, South Africa had no regulations for RC Multi-Rotors/Drones. By 2015, Part 101 of the South African Civil Aviation Regulations came into force, making South Africa one of the first countries to implement comprehensive drone laws. This positioned South Africa as a leader in drone/RPAS regulations globally, influencing many other countries.

We provide exceptionally skilled photographers and video cameramen such as Riaan, to amazing Shoot Locations, models, lights. We only source from top quality and preferred sub-contractors who can offer registered, legal and insured services as required. The word ‘Sky’ represents ‘far and above the horizon’ as they say “The ‘Sky’ is no longer the limit” and the word ‘Pixels’ for the dots that appear on all our screens and devices today. These Dots are called Pixels, In digital imaging, a pixel, pel, or picture element is a hypothetical, theorized square element in a raster image, or the smallest addressable element in an all points addressable display device; so it is the smallest controllable element of a picture represented on the screen.

I have faced challenges when new regulations required photographers, videographers, and the film industry to obtain a legal ROC (RPAS Operating Certificate) and ASL (Air-Service License). This process took several companies 3 to 5 years to become legal drone operators.
